本片改编自2023年发行的寻找“异常”的人气游戏《8号出口》。这是一款以地铁车站为舞台的短篇游戏，玩家被困在无限循环的地下通道中，在感受各种“异常”带来的恐怖的同时，努力寻找通往8号出口的道路。

Blamed by her community for being childless, Frieda immerses herself in prayer and ritual. When she returns unscathed from the forbidden forest surrounding the village, having evaded a lecherous butcher, she is condemned as an agent of the devil. Frieda, however, finds new faith in the dark powers that inhabit the woods.

Although set in the Middle Ages, Witte Wieven displays an unmistakably contemporary spirit, crafting a feminist parable about women discovering new ways of understanding their lives and the world.
